These are a rare mutant of pink princess with most of the pink in the leaves knocked out with white (still some pink). These are not Red Anderson. See photos for comparison between pink princess marble and marble knockout (white).
Philodendron Pink Princess is a highly sought-after variegated cultivar known for its striking dark green to nearly black leaves splashed with vibrant pink variegation. Its bold coloration and climbing habit make it one of the most iconic collector plants.
Care Guide
- Light: Bright, indirect light to maintain pink variegation. Avoid low light which reduces coloration, and direct sun which can scorch leaves.
- Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry. Keep evenly moist but not soggy.
- Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (60–80%). Benefits from humidifiers or greenhouse setups.
- Temperature: Thrives between 65–85°F. Protect from drafts and cold below 60°F.
- Soil: Well-draining mix with potting soil, perlite/pumice, and orchid bark.
- Fertilizer: Feed monthly during active growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Reduce in winter.
- Growth Habit: Upright climbing growth with dark leaves showing pink variegation. Benefits from support such as a moss pole or trellis.
-
Common Issues:
- Fading pink: insufficient light.
- Yellow leaves: overwatering or nutrient imbalance.
- Brown edges: low humidity or underwatering.
- Pests: spider mites, thrips, and mealybugs; treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap.
- Toxicity: Not safe for pets or humans if ingested.
Key Notes:
Philodendron Pink Princess is prized for its dramatic pink variegation, which requires consistent bright light to maintain. With proper care, it becomes a vibrant centerpiece in any rare plant collection.
