Alocasia × amazonica 'Polly' (pink variegated)

A rare variegated form of the classic Alocasia 'Polly' (Alocasia × amazonica), grown for its dramatic arrow-shaped, glossy dark green leaves with bold white veining, here overlaid with soft pink, blush, cream, and white variegation. Each leaf develops a unique pattern, and new growth may emerge with rosy or coppery tones. Compact and upright with no climbing habit; the pink and pale tissue is more sensitive than green, so stable conditions are essential. Subject to the natural leaf-cycling and dormancy typical of the genus.

• Light: Bright, stable indirect light supports the strongest pink variegation and compact growth; low light reduces color intensity over time. Avoid direct sun which damages the lighter sectors.

• Soil: Light, chunky, airy aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; excellent drainage essential — the variegated form is especially prone to root stress. Never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-82°F; sensitive to swings and drafts, with exposure below 60°F triggering dormancy. High humidity of 60%+ is essential — browning shows first on the pink and white sections.

• Watering: Water when the top 1-2" of mix has dried; water thoroughly, drain fully, then wait until partially dry again. Sensitive to overwatering — never waterlogged, never bone dry.

• Fertilizer: Feed every 2-4 weeks during active growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength; the variegated tissue benefits from steady but gentle feeding. Over-fertilizing causes root stress quickly. Reduce in fall, stop in winter.
