A hybrid of notable collector appeal that brings together two species with very different but deeply complementary strengths — Anthurium besseae, a compact cloud forest epiphyte known for its vivid, prominent venation and the brilliance of its vein color, crossed with Anthurium luxurians, the heavily bullate, near-black quilted species whose deeply pebbled, blistered leaf surface and extraordinary thickness define the upper tier of the luxurians lineage. Marketed by the trade name 'Amazon Diamond', the cross produces broad, heart-shaped leaves that combine the luxurians signature corrugated bullate texture — panels of leaf surface raised between the vein structure in the characteristic quilted pattern — with venation that can shift from bright green to reddish-gold depending on the seedling, maturity, and lighting conditions, creating a diamond-like patterning effect across the dark surface that gives the cultivar name its meaning. New growth frequently emerges in warm reddish to bronze tones before hardening to deep green with a metallic luster — a color transition that in some seedlings is particularly dramatic. As with all open-cross hybrids, individual plants vary, and seedling selection significantly affects how prominently each parent's traits are expressed.
