Anthurium Crystal Sky × Papillilaminum
Anthurium 'Crystal Sky' (Anthurium crystallinum × Anthurium besseae aff.) × Anthurium papillilaminum

A three-lineage hybrid combining the venation-focused 'Crystal Sky' — itself a cross of A. crystallinum and A. besseae aff. that pairs crystalline silver-white venation with the besseae lineage's vein brilliance and velvety surface — against A. papillilaminum, the Panamanian understory species known for its thick, papillose-velvety leaf texture, ribbed and winged petioles, and deep mahogany emergent coloration. The cross brings crystallinum-derived venation and besseae vein intensity together with papillilaminum's leaf substance and velvet depth. Venation contrast typically intensifies as leaves mature and enlarge. Individual seedling expression varies.

  • Light: Bright but soft indirect light — the papillilaminum lineage prefers gentler light levels; venation is most vivid under consistent good indirect rather than high-intensity light. Avoid direct sun.

  • Soil: Very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration; never waterlogged.

  • Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-80%+ is essential for the velvet surface quality and cleanest leaf emergence from both parent lineages.

  • Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never allow to dry out fully; never waterlog.

  • Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
