Anthurium Delta Force
Anthurium clarinervium × Anthurium pedatoradiatum
A cultivated hybrid created by Steve Nock at Ree Gardens in Miami in the 1990s, selected from the cross for its uniquely deltoid (triangular) leaf with a sharply narrow tip — a form that has never been reliably recreated from seed, making all true specimens clonal descendants of the original. It combines the prominent white-silver venation and velvet leathery texture of A. clarinervium with the architectural triangular form influenced by A. pedatoradiatum. Compact and upright in habit at 40-60cm, and one of the more forgiving and tolerant velvet anthuriums in cultivation. The true triangular character emerges only after several leaves of maturity.
-
Light: Bright, heavily filtered indirect light; tolerates medium light but grows faster and healthier in bright conditions. Avoid direct sun which scorches the leaves.
-
Soil: Open, chunky aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; excellent drainage and aeration essential. Adapts well to semi-hydro. Never waterlogged.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 70-86°F; high humidity of 70-80% is the primary requirement — more tolerant of ambient conditions than most velvet anthuriums, but rewards consistent humidity.
-
Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.
-
Fertilizer: A heavy feeder — feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; consistent feeding drives rapid growth. Dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
