Anthurium clarinervium (open-pollinated hybrids)

Seed-grown hybrids derived from Anthurium clarinervium — the compact Mexican velvet species known for its thick, leathery, deeply lobed heart-shaped leaves and striking white-silver venation. Because clarinervium hybridizes readily with related velvet species, open-pollinated seedlings show natural variation in leaf shape, vein pattern, and coloration — every plant is genuinely unique. Compact and manageable in habit, and among the more forgiving velvet anthuriums, making these an excellent entry point into collecting velvet-leaf hybrids.

• Light: Bright indirect to filtered light; tolerates medium light but avoid direct sun which scorches the thick velvet leaves.

• Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent aeration; never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70%+ ideal, though notably more tolerant of average household humidity than cloud forest species. Good air circulation is beneficial.

• Watering: Water when the top inch or two of medium is dry — don't let it dry out completely, but avoid overwatering, which risks root rot. Never waterlog.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during active growth. Reduce in winter.
