Anthurium Vittariifolium Variegated

A variegated form of the pendant strap-leaf anthurium native to the tropical forests of Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, and Brazil. It produces extraordinarily long, narrow, ribbon-like leaves — capable of reaching several feet in length while remaining only a few inches wide — here overlaid with cream to pale green variegation across the glossy deep green surface. The variegation varies from leaf to leaf and, with the reduced chlorophyll, growth is slower than the standard form. An elevated or hanging position is essential to allow the pendant leaves to hang freely to their full length.

• Light: Bright indirect light is important for maintaining the variegation; avoid direct harsh sun which scorches the lighter sectors, and insufficient light which fades the variegation and slows growth.

• Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage; never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70%+ supports the best growth and cleanest leaf emergence.

• Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog — variegated forms are more sensitive to root stress.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
