Anthurium Warocqueanum × Rugulosum Crinitum
Anthurium warocqueanum × Anthurium rugulosum 'Crinitum'
A cross between A. warocqueanum, the Queen Anthurium of the Colombian cloud forests known for its elongated, pendant velvet leaves and prominent venation, and A. rugulosum 'Crinitum', a selection valued for its distinctly rugose, finely wrinkled leaf surface. The cross produces elongated, narrowly cordate leaves combining warocqueanum's pendant form and leaf length with the textured surface quality of the rugulosum parent. Leaf size and character develop considerably with maturity and vertical support. Individual seedling expression varies.
-
Light: Bright but soft indirect light supports the best leaf development and protects the surface from bleaching. Avoid direct sun.
-
Soil: Very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration; waterlogging is the primary cultivation failure.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Cool to warm temperatures between 60-80°F with meaningful day-to-night differential; high humidity of 70-80%+ is essential — inherited from the warocqueanum parent's montane origin.
-
Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Consistency matters more than any specific schedule.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium and magnesium every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
