Philodendron Florida Beauty Variegated × Tortum
Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' (variegated) × Philodendron tortum

*Reverted*

A cross between two structurally dramatic dissected-leaf climbers. Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' — the variegated squamiferum × pedatum hybrid — contributes its multi-lobed, fingered leaf architecture, bristly reddish petioles, and cream-to-yellow variegation. Philodendron tortum brings its radically dissected, skeletal, feather-like leaf form. The cross integrates these two lobing systems into a deeply incised, finely dissected leaf carrying the Florida Beauty variegation across the restructured shape — more finely cut than pure Florida Beauty, more broadly lobed than pure tortum. Variegation is unpredictable across successive leaves.

  • Light: Bright indirect light is critical for maintaining the variegation — the cream and yellow sectors require good light, and insufficient light causes reversion toward green. Avoid direct sun which scorches the lighter sectors.

  • Soil: Very open, chunky aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; the fine dissected leaf structure of the tortum lineage is correlated with sensitivity to root rot — excellent drainage essential.

  • Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-82°F; humidity of 60-70% supports the cleanest leaf emergence and best color.

  • Watering: Allow the top 2" of medium to approach dryness between waterings; water thoroughly and drain completely. Never waterlog.

  • Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; consistent feeding supports growth across the reduced-chlorophyll sectors. Reduce in winter.
