Philodendron Paraiso Aurea Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde' (aurea form)
A golden-variegated form of Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde' — a philodendron of uncertain South American origin known for its elongated, narrow leaves with wavy margins and a velvety-matte surface. The aurea form displays bright golden-yellow to lemon variegation in chunks and sectors across the leaf, distinct from the mottled green-and-cream marbling of the standard Paraiso Verde. A climbing hemiepiphyte whose variegation is light-dependent, with the aurea form somewhat more forgiving than albo types since the yellow sectors retain more functional pigment than pure white.
-
Light: Bright indirect light is essential to maintain the golden variegation; too little light causes reversion to solid green. Avoid direct sun which scorches the lighter sectors.
-
Soil: Well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir; excellent drainage essential. Never waterlogged.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-85°F, never below 60°F; humidity of 60-70% supports the best growth and variegation.
-
Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings; keep evenly moist during active growth but never soggy. Sensitive to overwatering and root rot.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce in winter.
