Syngonium wendlandii (variegated mutation)

A variegated mutation of Syngonium wendlandii — the velvety-leaved arrowhead vine from Central America, known for its deep green foliage with a distinctive silvery-white midrib stripe. The variegated form overlays this with bold buttery yellow to cream sectors, splashes, and marbling, giving the golden appearance that earns the cultivar its name. Each leaf develops a unique pattern, and the silvery midrib striping remains visible on the green portions. A climbing vine that develops larger leaves with a moss pole; variegation is unpredictable and slower-growing than the standard form.

• Light: Bright indirect light is essential for maintaining the yellow variegation; insufficient light causes reversion toward green, while direct sun scorches the pale sectors.

• Soil: Well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir rich in organic matter; excellent drainage essential. Never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; humidity of 60-70%+ supports the best growth and cleanest leaf emergence. Avoid cold drafts below 60°F.

• Watering: Allow the top inch of medium to dry between waterings; water thoroughly and drain completely. Never waterlog — variegated forms are more sensitive to root stress.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
