Aglaonema China Red

A cultivar of Aglaonema — the Chinese Evergreen, native to the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia and New Guinea — selected for its vivid warm-toned foliage coloration. A compact, clumping, self-heading grower with the forgiving, low-maintenance constitution that has made the Chinese Evergreen one of the most widely grown houseplants in the world, tolerating a broader range of indoor conditions than most tropical foliage plants. Brighter light encourages the most intense color expression, though the plant remains healthy and attractive across a wide light range.

• Light: Moderate to bright indirect light for the most vivid color; tolerates lower light conditions though color intensity reduces noticeably in dim settings. Never direct sun.

• Soil: Well-draining potting mix with added perlite; moisture-retentive but never waterlogged. Good aeration is beneficial.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; does not tolerate cold drafts or temperatures below 55°F. Average household humidity is sufficient; higher humidity supports the most vigorous growth.

• Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings; reduce in winter. More forgiving of underwatering than overwatering — never allow to sit in standing water.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce or stop in winter. Avoid over-fertilizing which causes salt buildup and leaf tip burn.
