Bold & Brilliant
Aglaonema Pink Panama
Araceae · Southeast Asia · Beginner-Friendly
Care Guide
One of the most light-flexible houseplants available. Bright indirect light produces the most vivid pink coloration, but Pink Panama adapts well to medium and even low-light environments. Avoid direct sun entirely — it bleaches the vivid pink pigments.
- Brighter light = more vivid pink coloration
- Low light is tolerated but colors become muted
- North or east window is perfect; filter south or west exposures
- No direct sun ever — bleaches and scorches leaves
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry to the touch. This species is more drought-tolerant than most tropicals — erring toward dryness is safer than overwatering.
- Over: yellowing lower leaves, mushy stems
- Under: drooping, curling leaves that recover after watering
Thrives between 65–85°F. Keep away from cold drafts and heating/cooling vents. Never allow exposure below 60°F.
- Cold damage below 60°F — keep away from drafty windows in winter
- Stable indoor temperatures of 65–80°F are ideal year-round
Remarkably humidity-tolerant for a tropical plant. Typical indoor humidity (40–60%) is perfectly adequate. Misting or humidifiers are not required, though the plant appreciates some moisture in very dry climates.
- No humidifier needed at typical indoor levels
- Mist occasionally in very dry or heated homes
- Avoid cold dry drafts from heating vents
Standard well-draining potting mix works well. Good drainage is the priority — this species rots easily in waterlogged soil.
Repot every 2 years or when rootbound. Prefers snug pots rather than oversized containers.
Feed once a month in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength. No feeding in winter.
- Half-strength application prevents fertilizer burn
- Flush soil every 3–4 months to clear salt buildup
- Skip entirely from November through February
