Philodendron erubescens 'Shady Lady'

A variegated mutation of the Painted Lady philodendron, distinguished by feathery variegation in shades of white, cream, and light green across the leaf surface. A climbing erubescens-type hybrid that produces progressively larger, more dramatically variegated leaves with vertical support. Variegation is unpredictable across successive leaves.

• Light: Bright indirect light is essential for maintaining the variegation; insufficient light causes reversion toward green. Avoid direct sun which scorches the cream and white sectors.

• Soil: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; excellent drainage essential. Never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; humidity of 60-70% supports the cleanest leaf emergence. Avoid cold drafts below 60°F.

• Watering: Allow the top inch of medium to dry between waterings; water thoroughly and drain completely. Never waterlog — variegated forms are more sensitive to root stress.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; consistent feeding supports growth across the reduced-chlorophyll sectors. Reduce in winter.
