Anthurium Papillilaminum × (Crystal Sky × Crystallinum)
Anthurium papillilaminum × ((Anthurium crystallinum × Anthurium besseae aff.) × Anthurium crystallinum)

A three-lineage hybrid that assembles some of the most venation-focused collector anthuriums available into a single cross of considerable complexity. The secondary parent — 'Crystal Sky' crossed back with crystallinum — is itself a hybrid of Anthurium crystallinum × Anthurium besseae aff., then recrossed with crystallinum again, creating an intermediate plant in which the crystallinum's brilliantly white, crystalline venation has been amplified and intensified through doubled contribution, while the besseae lineage adds its characteristic venation brightness, velvety dark leaf surface, and the refined texture it passes so reliably into its offspring. The result of that secondary cross is large, broadly cordate, deeply velvety leaves with exceptionally prominent and luminous white to pale yellow venation of extraordinary clarity — a venation intensity that exceeds even the considerable vein quality of crystallinum alone. Against this background, Anthurium papillilaminum contributes the third lineage: the celebrated Panamanian understory species with its large, thick, muscular velvet leaves, dense papillose surface texture, characteristic ribbed and winged petioles, and the deep mahogany to reddish-brown emergent coloration that papillilaminum passes into virtually every cross it enters. The full three-lineage hybrid therefore produces plants with papillilaminum's architectural leaf constitution, muscular velvet surface, and dramatic mahogany emergence — carrying that framework into contact with the intensified, double-crystallinum venation of the Crystal Sky × crystallinum secondary parent, creating leaves where bold, luminous white venation of exceptional brightness reads across a thick, papillose-velvety dark surface of substantial presence. As with all multi-lineage seedling crosses, individual expression varies significantly.

Provide bright but soft indirect light — essential for maintaining the luminous venation intensity from the crystallinum lineage while protecting the dense velvet surface from bleaching. The papillilaminum parent's preference for gentler light levels carries into this cross, making it somewhat more sensitive to high light intensity than pure crystallinum hybrids. Keep the medium consistently but lightly moist in a very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration. High humidity of 70-80% is essential for both the velvet surface quality and the cleanest leaf emergence. Maintain warm temperatures between 65-80°F with stable conditions. Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium every 4-6 weeks during active growth. Toxic to humans and pets if ingested.
