Monstera Adansonii Aurea Tricolor Variegated

A chimeric variegated form of Monstera adansonii — the Swiss Cheese Vine, native to the humid tropical and subtropical forests of Central and South America. The Aurea form's chlorophyll reduction exposes the underlying carotenoid pigments that are normally masked by green — producing warm golden-yellow to bright yellow variegated sectors rather than white. No two leaves produce the same balance of colors or the same pattern, and the three-way color range on a single leaf is one of the more botanically distinctive variegation expressions in the collector aroid market.

A moss pole or climbing support is strongly recommended — adansonii produces progressively larger, more fenestrated leaves as it ascends, and the Aurea tricolor variegation is most dramatically expressed on larger, more developed leaves. Bright indirect light is essential — the yellow carotenoid sectors require sufficient light to sustain the plant's reduced photosynthetic capacity, and good light also maintains the most vivid golden color expression. Avoid direct harsh sun, which scorches the variegated sectors readily. Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings in a chunky, well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir. Humidity of 60-70% supports the cleanest leaf emergence and healthiest growth. Maintain warm temperatures between 65-85°F. Toxic to humans and pets if ingested.
