Anthurium Flavolineatum
A rare aroid native to the humid, shaded rainforests of Ecuador, growing as an epiphyte under filtered canopy light. It produces long, narrow, deeply lobed leaves with a smooth, sub-velvety, reflective surface and fine yellowish vein lines — the species name flavolineatum referring to these fine lines. Compact and manageable indoors, typically reaching 60-90cm in height, and well suited to tall, slim planters. Better suited to experienced growers given its need for stable humidity and watering.
-
Light: Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun which damages the foliage. Filtered light consistent with its rainforest canopy origins.
-
Soil: Well-draining mix of orchid bark, perlite, and organic material; can also be grown epiphytically with good airflow. Roots should stay moist but never compacted.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 64-75°F; high humidity of 60-80% is essential for clean leaf margins and steady growth.
-
Watering: Water when the top inch begins to dry — do not wait for the mix to go fully dry. Keep evenly moist but never waterlogged.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce in winter.
