Philodendron patriciae × Philodendron spiritus-sancti

A cross between two of the most coveted narrow-leaved climbing philodendrons — P. patriciae, the Chocó Colombian species with its long, pendulous, subtly quilted leaves; and P. spiritus-sancti, the critically endangered Brazilian endemic famous for its dramatically elongated, narrow, pendant sword-like leaves. The hybrid combines the pendant elegance and elongated form of both parents, producing long, narrow, tapering leaves with a graceful hanging habit. The spiritus-sancti influence becomes increasingly pronounced as the plant climbs and matures. A tall moss pole is essential to achieve the fullest mature leaf expression.

• Light: Bright indirect light supports the fullest pendant leaf size and fastest development; both parents benefit from good light. Avoid direct harsh sun.

• Soil: Very open, chunky aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage; dense or compacted media is particularly detrimental to this lineage.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-82°F; humidity of 60-75% supports the best growth — patriciae's higher humidity preference moderates somewhat in hybrid form but consistent moisture in the air is beneficial.

• Watering: Water when the top inch of medium approaches dryness; keep consistently moist but never soggy. Never waterlog.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; supplement with calcium and magnesium for best leaf quality. Reduce in winter.
