Hoya Incrassata Albomarginata

A variegated form of Hoya incrassata — the Wax Plant, native to the lowland forests of the Philippines, Malaysia, and Thailand — distinguished by thick, waxy, oval leaves edged in creamy white to pale yellow margins against a deep green center. A fast-growing epiphytic climber or trailer that produces clusters of small, star-shaped flowers with a yellow corolla, maroon tips, and a strong, sweet fragrance when mature. Easygoing and forgiving once established. Never remove the peduncles after flowering — new blooms develop from the same spurs.

• Light: Bright indirect light to dappled shade; a few hours of gentle direct sun encourages faster growth and blooming. Brighter light intensifies the variegation contrast.

• Soil: Very well-draining epiphytic mix of orchid bark and perlite; Hoya resents clogged, dense soil. Excellent drainage is essential.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 60-85°F, never below 50°F; tolerates average household humidity though higher humidity supports the best growth.

• Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, then water thoroughly — more susceptible to overwatering than underwatering. The waxy leaves store water well.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce in winter.
