A rare ornamental banana cultivar of Southeast Asian and Pacific origin grown primarily for its foliage — large, paddle-shaped leaves with an unpredictable variegation pattern of cream, white, and deep green that matures with a distinctive pink to deep pink coloration, varying across every leaf. New growth often emerges with the most intense pink tones, making each unfurling a notable event. Can produce small decorative fruit under optimal conditions. Variegation stability is directly tied to light levels — bright light is the primary factor in maintaining strong pink expression.

• Light: Bright indirect to filtered direct sun — 4-6 hours preferred. The pink variegation intensifies under strong light; insufficient light causes fading toward cream and green. Avoid prolonged harsh midday sun which scorches the white sectors.

• Soil: Rich, well-draining tropical mix with good organic content; slightly acidic pH preferred. Never waterlogged or compacted.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-85°F; cold-sensitive below 50°F. Humidity of 50%+ is essential — higher humidity supports the most vivid variegation and prevents leaf edge browning. Ideal for Florida outdoor growing in zones 10-11.
