Aglaonema Red Mahasettii

A rare ornamental cultivar from Thailand's prolific Aglaonema breeding tradition — a country that has been responsible for some of the most vivid and boldly colored Chinese Evergreen cultivars developed over the past several decades. The 'Mahasetthi' name follows the Thai naming tradition for premium cultivar selections, translating loosely as "great merchant" or "prosperous one." A compact, clumping, self-heading grower with the reliable, low-maintenance constitution characteristic of the genus, and one that rewards brighter light conditions with the most intense color expression.

• Light: Bright indirect light enhances and maintains the most vivid red coloration; tolerates moderate light though color intensity reduces in dimmer conditions. Never direct sun.

• Soil: Well-draining potting mix with added perlite; moisture-retentive but never waterlogged. Good aeration is beneficial.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; does not tolerate cold drafts or temperatures below 55°F. Average household humidity is sufficient; moderate humidity of 50-60% supports the best growth.

• Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings; reduce in winter. More forgiving of underwatering than overwatering — never allow to sit in standing water.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce or stop in winter. Avoid over-fertilizing which causes salt buildup and leaf tip burn.
