A velvet-leaf hybrid combining P. rubrijuvenile ('El Choco Red') — the Chocó species known for its crimson-red emergent leaves and burgundy undersides — with P. melanochrysum, the Black Gold Philodendron prized for its long, deeply velvety, near-black leaves and golden-green iridescent venation. The hybrid combines the rich red emergent coloration and velvet texture of rubrijuvenile with melanochrysum's elongated leaf form and dark, shimmering surface, with new growth emerging in warm bronze-red tones before maturing to deep velvet green. A climber that develops larger, more elongated leaves with vertical support.

• Light: Bright indirect light supports the deepest velvet coloration, iridescent venation, and best emergent color; avoid direct sun which bleaches the velvet surface.

• Soil: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; moisture-retentive but never waterlogged — excellent drainage and aeration essential.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 60-80% supports the best velvet texture and clean leaf emergence.

• Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings; keep consistently moist but never soggy. Never waterlog.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; supplement with calcium and magnesium for best leaf quality. Reduce in winter.
