Anthurium Raven Soul
Anthurium crystallinum × Anthurium luxurians

A hybrid that brings together two of the most distinguished parents in the velvet anthurium world — the crystalline silver venation and deeply velvety texture of A. crystallinum crossed with the dramatic dark pigmentation, heavily quilted bullate surface, and thick leathery constitution of A. luxurians — producing offspring that inherit character from both sides in combinations that vary between seedlings and deepen with maturity. The resulting foliage is heart-shaped, deeply velvety, and in many specimens approaches near-black in coloration: an extraordinarily dark, rich deep green so saturated it reads as almost obsidian in low light, contrasted by the prominent silver-white venation inherited from the crystallinum parent that maps across the dark surface with maximum visual impact. Young plants often display remarkable color transitions through green, copper, and pink tones before settling into the deep adult coloration. The quilted, bullate texture from the luxurians side adds tactile depth — the leaf surface ripples between veins in the characteristic puckered pattern that makes the luxurians lineage so coveted — while the thickness and structural durability of the leaves reflects that parent's hardy, leathery constitution. Each seedling is a unique genetic combination, making no two Raven Soul plants precisely alike.

Provide bright indirect light, which supports the richest, deepest leaf coloration and the most vivid contrast between the dark blade and white venation; insufficient light dulls the dramatic pigmentation and slows the quilting development that characterizes mature specimens. Keep the medium consistently moist but never waterlogged, watering when the top inch begins to dry; use a chunky, open epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, charcoal, and coco coir with excellent drainage. High humidity of 70-85% is essential — the velvet leaf surface browns at the margins and tips in dry air below 60%, and a dedicated humidifier is strongly recommended for indoor growing. Maintain warm temperatures between 65-80°F away from cold drafts and temperature fluctuations. Toxic to humans and pets if ingested.
