Anthurium forgetii × Anthurium luxurians

A cross between two compact velvet species with complementary traits. A. forgetii contributes its closed or nearly closed sinus — the rounded leaf outline with no basal notch — along with dark velvety texture and subtle silver venation. A. luxurians brings its deeply bullate, lacquer-glossy, three-dimensionally quilted surface. The cross combines forgetii's rounded sinus-free leaf form with the bullate texture of luxurians, producing dark, satiny leaves with a puckered surface and silver venation. New leaves emerge in warm tones before maturing to deep green. Individual seedling expression varies.

• Light: Bright but soft indirect light maintains the venation contrast and protects the surface from bleaching. Avoid direct sun.

• Soil: Very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; the luxurians lineage is particularly prone to root rot in waterlogged conditions. Excellent drainage essential.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-85% is essential for maintaining the surface quality and clean leaf emergence.

• Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
