Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' × Philodendron sp. 'Fuzzy Petiole' (variegated)

A hybrid combining Philodendron 'Florida Beauty' — the squamiferum × pedatum Florida hybrid known for its multi-lobed, dissected leaf architecture and bristly petioles — with Philodendron sp. 'Fuzzy Petiole', an undescribed Ecuadorian species with distinctive tubercled, fuzzy red petioles. The variegated form overlays this with bold yellow, cream, and green sectoral variegation, each leaf uniquely patterned from fine marbling to near-full color sectors. The cross carries the fuzzy petiole character from both parents alongside the lobed leaf form of the Florida lineage. Variegation is unpredictable across successive leaves and slower-growing than the standard form.

• Light: Bright indirect light is essential for maintaining the variegation — the cream and yellow sectors require good light, and insufficient light causes reversion toward green. Avoid direct sun which scorches the lighter sectors.

• Soil: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; excellent drainage essential. Never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-82°F; humidity of 60-70%+ supports the cleanest leaf emergence and best color.

• Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings; water thoroughly and drain completely. Never waterlog — variegated forms are more sensitive to root stress.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; consistent feeding supports growth across the reduced-chlorophyll sectors. Reduce in winter.
