Anthurium Amazon Diamond
Anthurium besseae aff. × Anthurium luxurians
A named hybrid pairing the vivid yellow-green venation of A. besseae aff. — one of the most sought-after venation donors in the genus — with the deeply bullate, lacquer-glossy quilted surface of A. luxurians. The cross produces leaves where the bright besseae venation reads across the three-dimensional puckered surface of the luxurians parent, combining venation brilliance with bullate texture. New leaves emerge in warm bronze tones before maturing to the deep, dark surface of the adult leaf.
-
Light: Bright but soft indirect light supports the venation contrast and protects the bullate surface from bleaching. Avoid direct sun.
-
Soil: Very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; luxurians lineage is particularly prone to root rot in waterlogged conditions. Excellent drainage essential.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-85% is essential for maintaining the glossy bullate surface and clean leaf emergence.
-
Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
