Anthurium Amazon Rabbit
Anthurium forgetii × Anthurium pinkleyi

A hybrid cross between A. forgetii — known for its closed or nearly closed sinus, dark iridescent semi-velvety leaves, and subtle silver venation — and A. pinkleyi, the larger-scale species with broadly heart-shaped, glossy-leathery leaves and rounded basal lobes. The 'Amazon Rabbit' name references the inflorescence spathe shape. Individual seedling expression varies — some lean toward forgetii's closed sinus and darker leaf, others toward pinkleyi's openly cordate form, with dark impressed reticulate venation and rich green coloration consistent across the cross.

• Light: Bright indirect light maintains the dark, rich surface quality of both parents; the forgetii influence is sensitive to harsh direct sun which dulls the iridescence.

• Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage; never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F with stable conditions; high humidity of 70-85% supports the healthiest growth and cleanest leaf emergence.

• Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
