Anthurium Forgetii 'Cup Leafs' × Papillilaminum
Anthurium forgetii 'Cup Leafs' × Anthurium papillilaminum
A cross between A. forgetii 'Cup Leafs' — a selection distinguished by its closed or nearly closed sinus, rounded lobeless leaf outline, and cupped, inward-curving rippled leaf form — and A. papillilaminum, which contributes thick, muscular, papillose-velvety leaf substance, ribbed and winged petioles, and deep mahogany emergent coloration. The cross combines forgetii's rounded, cupped leaf character with papillilaminum's velvet substance and dark pigmentation, producing dark, velvety leaves with contrasting venation. Individual seedling expression varies in the degree of sinus closure and cupping.
-
Light: Bright but soft indirect light — the papillilaminum lineage prefers gentler light levels; consistent good indirect light protects the velvet surface from bleaching. Avoid direct sun.
-
Soil: Very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration; never waterlogged.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-80%+ is essential for the velvet surface quality and cleanest leaf emergence.
-
Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
