Anthurium Superbum Dark

A bird's nest anthurium native to Ecuador, grown for its thick, leathery, upright leaves that form a rosette radiating from a central crown. The stiff, deep green leaves have a distinctive sculptural, ribbed quality and a coppery to bronze flush on the undersides. A self-heading terrestrial or epiphyte that does not climb and requires no support, forming a striking architectural specimen.

• Light: Bright to medium indirect light; more adaptable and sun-tolerant than velvet anthuriums, though it benefits from protection against direct harsh midday sun.

• Soil: Rich, well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, coco coir, and perlite in a wide pot that accommodates the spreading rosette; never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 60-80°F; humidity above 50-60% supports the best growth, though it tolerates average household conditions well.

• Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings; water thoroughly and drain completely. More drought-tolerant than most anthuriums — never waterlog.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce in winter.
