Anthurium Pallidiflorum 'Guazhalan'

A locale selection of Anthurium pallidiflorum — the Ecuadorian pendant strap-leaf species — originating from the Guazhalan area of Ecuador and distinguished within the species by its particularly elongated, lanceolate leaves with a smooth, leathery surface texture and prominently expressed parallel venation. The species grows as an epiphyte in the humid cloud forests of Ecuador and Colombia, its extraordinarily long, narrow, velvet-surfaced pendant leaves hanging freely and capable of reaching several feet in length while remaining only a few inches wide. An elevated or hanging position is essential to allow the leaves to hang to their full length.

• Light: Bright to moderate indirect light; protect the velvet surface from direct harsh sun which bleaches and damages the texture.

• Soil: Chunky, open epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage; never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 64-82°F; high humidity of 60-80% supports the cleanest leaf emergence and best velvet surface quality.

• Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
