Anthurium Red Crystal × SKG Silver

A hybrid between two crystallinum-lineage velvet selections — 'Red Crystal', a red-veined crystallinum form, and 'SKG Silver', a selection prized for shimmering silver venation. The cross produces velvety, deeply dark foliage: new leaves emerge with warm red tones and harden toward near-black, retaining red venation and sinus coloration across many leaves before the silver influence brightens with maturity. Reported by growers to be notably vigorous and forgiving relative to many collector velvets.

• Light: Bright indirect light maintains the strong venation and deep coloration; avoid direct sun which scorches the velvet foliage.

• Soil: Loose, well-draining mix of orchid bark, perlite or pumice, coco coir, and sphagnum; excellent drainage and aeration essential. Never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-85°F, protected from drafts and cold below 60°F; high humidity of 70-90% is essential — benefits from a humidifier, greenhouse, or terrarium.

• Watering: Water when the top 1-2" of medium is dry; keep evenly moist but never soggy. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.

• Fertilizer: Feed monthly during active growth with a balanced liquid fertilizer; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
