Alocasia 'Nobilis' (pink variegated)

A variegated form of Alocasia 'Nobilis' — a jewel-type alocasia with deeply lobed, arrowhead-shaped leaves, bold white primary venation, and dark green foliage with reddish-purple undersides. The variegated form adds irregular cream, white, and soft pink-blushed sectors across the leaf surface, with each leaf displaying a unique pattern. The pink tones are most visible along the boundaries where variegated tissue meets green. Slower-growing than the standard form due to reduced chlorophyll, and subject to the dormancy typical of the genus.

• Light: Bright indirect light is essential for maintaining the variegation and supporting growth across the reduced-chlorophyll sectors; insufficient light causes reversion. Avoid direct sun which scorches the pale and pink sectors.

• Soil: Well-draining, airy aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; as a rhizomatous alocasia it is highly susceptible to root rot — excellent drainage is non-negotiable.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; cool below 60°F triggers dormancy. High humidity of 60-70%+ is essential — variegated sectors show stress before green tissue.

• Watering: Allow the top 1-2" to dry between waterings; keep lightly moist but never soggy. Overwatering is the primary cultivation failure — the pale sectors make this form especially sensitive.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce or stop during dormancy.
