Anthurium magnificum 'Silver'

A selection of Anthurium magnificum — the large Colombian velvet species — chosen for its exceptionally prominent, bright silver-white venation, more intense and contrasting than the standard form. It produces large, broadly cordate, deeply velvety dark green leaves with the characteristic quadrangular winged petioles of the species, the silver venation standing out boldly against the matte surface. New leaves emerge in warm copper to bronze tones before maturing to deep green.

• Light: Bright but soft indirect light supports the largest leaf development and most vivid silver venation; the dark velvet surface is sensitive to direct sun which bleaches the coloration.

• Soil: Very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration; never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-80% is essential for maintaining the velvet texture and supporting clean leaf emergence.

• Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium and magnesium every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
