Philodendron Pink Princess Mutation
Philodendron erubescens 'Pink Princess' (mutation)

A rare variation of the Pink Princess philodendron exhibiting unusual or unpredictable mutated variegation patterns — often a whitening effect or atypical distribution of pink and white sectors that differs from the standard bubblegum-pink splash of the typical PPP. A climbing erubescens-type hybrid with semi-matte, burgundy-toned dark leaves carrying the mutated variegation, which contains less chlorophyll than standard growth and makes the plant grow more slowly and react sensitively to light. Each leaf is unique.

• Light: Bright indirect light is critical for maintaining the variegation and pink/white expression; the whitened sectors are particularly light-sensitive and scorch under direct sun, while too little light causes reversion to green.

• Soil: Chunky, well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; excellent drainage essential. Never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; humidity of 60-70% supports the cleanest leaf emergence and reduces edge crisping. Avoid cold drafts below 60°F.

• Watering: Allow the top 50-75% of the medium to dry between waterings; water thoroughly and drain completely. The mutated form is especially sensitive to overwatering and root rot — err on the dry side.

• Fertilizer: Feed lightly with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during active growth; excessive nitrogen pushes green growth at the expense of variegation. Reduce in winter.
