Anthurium Esmeralda Queen × Green Savannah
Anthurium 'Esmeralda Queen' × Anthurium 'Green Savannah'
A cross between two velvet selections. 'Esmeralda Queen' derives from the warocqueanum 'Esmeralda' line, contributing elongated, pendant, thick-textured velvet leaves with subtle venation and a jewel-toned green cast. 'Green Savannah' contributes its own green-toned velvet character to the pairing. The cross produces elongated, narrowly cordate velvet leaves with pale contrasting venation, deepening in color and lengthening as the plant matures. Individual seedling expression varies.
-
Light: Bright but soft indirect light supports the best leaf development and protects the velvet surface from bleaching. Avoid direct sun.
-
Soil: Very open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration; never waterlogged.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Cool to warm temperatures between 60-80°F; high humidity of 70-80%+ is essential for the velvet surface quality and cleanest leaf emergence.
-
Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer supplemented with calcium and magnesium every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
