Anthurium Silver Streak
Anthurium forgetii × Anthurium crystallinum
A cross between two of the most venation-focused velvet anthuriums. A. forgetii contributes its closed or nearly closed sinus — the rounded leaf base without a notch — along with velvety texture and prominent pale veins; A. crystallinum brings its brilliant white-silver crystalline venation on heart-shaped leaves. The hybrid combines these into velvety leaves with prominent silver-white venation, often retaining some of the forgetii sinus closure depending on the individual. Individual seedling expression varies.
-
Light: Bright indirect light maintains the silver venation contrast and velvety surface; avoid direct sun which scorches the leaves.
-
Soil: Open, chunky epiphytic mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir with excellent drainage and aeration; never waterlogged.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-80°F; high humidity of 70-80% is essential for the velvet surface quality and cleanest leaf emergence.
-
Watering: Keep consistently but lightly moist — allow only the top inch to approach dryness between waterings. Never waterlog; never allow to dry out fully.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; dilute to half strength. Reduce in winter.
