Philodendron Ring of Fire Mint Variegated
A rare cultivar of the Philodendron 'Ring of Fire' hybrid — believed to be a cross of P. tortum and P. wendlandii — distinguished by cool mint-green, cream, and lime variegation across its deeply lobed, sawtooth-edged elongated leaves, with occasional pink-orange flushed petioles. A slow-growing, self-heading to semi-climbing aroid whose variegation varies unpredictably from leaf to leaf. Climbs vigorously with support, which also enhances leaf size.
-
Light: Bright indirect light, with 1-2 hours of morning sun to enhance the variegation; direct midday sun scorches the leaves and too little light fades the color.
-
Soil: Chunky aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir; excellent drainage essential. Never waterlogged.
-
Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-85°F, never below 60°F; humidity of 60%+ ideal — below 50% may crisp the leaf edges.
-
Watering: Let the top 2-3" of medium dry out between waterings — sensitive to overwatering and root rot. Err on the dry side; never waterlog.
-
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4 weeks during active growth; this slow grower benefits from light, consistent feeding. Reduce in winter.
