Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde' (aurea mutation)

A mutation within the Philodendron 'Paraiso Verde' line expressing golden-yellow aurea variegation — bright yellow to lemon-gold chunks and sectoral coloration across the elongated, slightly wavy, velvety-matte leaves, distinct from the standard mottled green-and-cream marbling of the typical Paraiso Verde. A climbing hemiepiphyte whose variegation is light-dependent and can revert to green under insufficient light. The aurea form is somewhat more forgiving than albo-type variegation since the yellow sectors retain more functional pigment than pure white.

• Light: Bright indirect light is essential to maintain the golden variegation; too little light causes reversion to solid green. Avoid direct sun which scorches the lighter sectors.

• Soil: Well-draining aroid mix of orchid bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir; excellent drainage essential. Never waterlogged.

• Temperature/Humidity: Warm temperatures between 65-85°F, never below 60°F; humidity of 60-70% supports the best growth and variegation.

• Watering: Allow the top 1-2" of medium to dry between waterings; keep evenly moist during active growth but never soggy. Sensitive to overwatering and root rot.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during active growth; reduce in winter.
